On any given day, the weather trend is usually the first subject of conversation. During the past month, anywhere you go in the United States, the price of gasoline has become a primary topic to complain about. Most people, and businesses, feel helpless when looking toward winter’s fuel bills.

Will dispensing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve help us? If you think short-term – Yes; it will help temporarily.

In fact, you can expect to see products and services increase in price due to the price of fuel and transportation. This is only the beginning of economic change. Many of the “Mom and Pop” businesses may not be able to adapt fast enough to handle the upcoming heating bills. Many of the local businesses, in my area, are still “smarting” from last winter’s fuel bills.

So what can we do? There has been a flood of Emails that tell us to boycott a particular oil company, but nobody can agree on exactly which company to boycott. Most oil companies are considered “greedy corporate giants,” with questionable political agendas, by the consumers. If we are going to be driven out of business, and into an economic disaster, it is time to declare economic warfare on the largest oil companies.

Sorry to choose such strong words and opinions, but this has gone on long enough. Osama Bin Laden may not feel that you are paying enough at the pump, but you don’t have his millions to pay your fuel bills with.

There is also an effort to stop buying gasoline on a particular day. Every business deals with ups and downs, but you have to come back to the pump; a day of poor sales isn’t going to matter to multi-millionaires. However, a month, or a season, will wake them up.

If we made a serious commitment to walk or bike more, we would all be healthier, and send a message to the oil companies. Granted, many of us commute great distances to get to work, but taking the car around the block to pick up a half-gallon of milk is ridiculous.

A little self-discipline goes a long way. Get rid of all gas guzzlers and don’t even think of buying one. Does anyone really need a 5.7 liter hemi? What are the auto manufacturers thinking? This is total gluttony, and we all know that the world’s oil reserves will run out, so let’s conserve what we have.

In your home, or business, you should insulate everything possible. Many people, and businesses, already have done this, but heat is becoming too precious a commodity to take for granted.

Write your local legislators about alternative fuel sources. Let them know this is an important election issue.
They have all sat on their rear ends long enough. Foreign oil dependence has become our foreign policy; it’s time to become self sufficient.

The oil companies are currently engaged in price gouging, but we are not helpless. If we conserve, and get some action from government, it will be for the common good.

In recent years, architects, builders and developers all over the world are emphasizing more on \”environmentally friendly\” building structures. They have initiated a green revolution called \”Building Green\” in the building and construction industry. The Pre-Engineered Building suppliers and manufacturers are at the forefront of this revolution.

A Pre-Engineered Building is a building structure that consists of pre-engineered, pre-fabricated factory components that are combined together and engineered structurally so that each component works together as one \”system\”.

Pre-Engineered Buildings help you in building your structures easily and conveniently be it homes, buildings offices, aircraft hangars, retail outlets, warehouses, halls, showrooms, manufacturing plants, industrial parks, etc. In addition to this, pre-engineered steel structures are strong and easy to build, and are also cheaper.

Depending on the type of building, the type of structure and your budget, for your construction activity, you can choose from a wide variety of pre-engineered steel structures like doors, windows, roof extensions, mansard, parapet walls, framed opening in end wall, lean-to\’s on sidewall or end wall, walk-in door, skylights, vents, downspouts, attractive colors, reflective or thermal insulation etc.

In Pre-Engineered Buildings no welding is required and it can be built up at complicated areas, where electricity is not available. While planning and designing of the PEB\’s an architects role is of great importance, because the different parts of a building are fabricated in the manufacturing facility, and are assembled together at the construction site. Thus, the planning & designing should be done precisely to avoid structures with wrong fittings.

Pre-Engineered Buildings are leading the way in the \”Building Green\” revolution. The definition of \”Building Green\” design, in terms of Pre-Engineered Buildings design and construction, is very simple. Pre-Engineered Buildings design and construction is effectively \”green\” if any negative impact on both the surrounding environment and the building occupants are eliminated by keeping in mind the diminishing global resources and the inevitable climatic changes. This approach is also called a sustainable design. Pre-Engineered Building offer infinite benefits.

The \”Green\” benefits of a Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) are as follows:

PEB\’s use steel and dont require cutting down valuable forests.

Modern steel manufacturers employ energy efficient methods in steel production that help to substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

PEB\’s are manufactured with a high proportion of recycled content, i.e. steel.

PEB\’s employ sustainable building design and construction and erect in less time than conventional building construction.

PEB\’s are fire and rust resistant and are virtually maintenance free.

PEB\’s provide healthy indoor environment.

PEB\’s are durable, cost-effective, energy efficient and green.

PEB\’s, after demolition doesnt accumulate wastage like asphalt shingles, concrete, brick and wood.

Steel building roofs used in PEB\’s reflect light and heat keeping the buildings cooler in hot weather and thus reducing cooling costs and helps in saving the environment.

PEB\’s help in reducing the carbon footprint.

Pre-Engineered Buildings are designed and engineered by trained and certified structural metal building engineers to withstand all weather and seismic conditions.

As the Pre-Engineered Buildings are built using steel, the life cycle of these buildings is long, and the appearance and durability will last for many years. Choose a quality steel building for your next construction project and go green with the \”Building Green\” revolution.

With more and more people living longer and longer, the question of quality of life is a constant concern. Some older people choose to grab life by the horns and soak up every second. Others are simply unable to do so. Still others choose to let little things get in the way of living and then watch as these problems snowball to take away their mobility and independence. For those who want to enjoy life to the fullest, sometimes a little help is needed in the form of devices such as electric wheelchairs, walkers and so on.

Using a wheelchair is not something most elderly people relish. However, for those who enjoy a relative high quality of life, this implement can be a real lifesaver. There’s no reason for an older person to sit back and rock away the rest of their lives when so many devices are available to help them overcome the troubles that can go along with normal aging. Getting a wheelchair isn’t giving in to aging, it’s fighting back and saying the person refuses to give up mobility and independence.

If an electric wheelchair is needed for a person with limited or even no mobility, there are some things to look for. Not all wheelchairs will work for every person, so custom fitting is often in order. Before buying the first chair that’s found, consider these things:

* Weight. Some chairs are designed to be more comfortable for people of higher weights. A chair designed for a 120-pound person is not likely to work well for a 200-pound man. Look at manufacturer specifications for weight limits before buying.

* Ease of use. Electric wheelchairs are meant to be easy to use and deliver mobility to those who have lost it. But sometimes the consoles and controls are too complex for some users to handle. Match the features with the person who will be using the device. A wheelchair can be a blessing for returning independence to those with mobility issues, but if the person who needs it is afraid to use it, there’s no point in the purchase.

* Charging and battery life. If the person who needs the chair enjoys long strolls or outings, make sure the battery has a lifespan to suit. A chair that only stays powered for a few hours won’t do in this case. Also make certain there are extra battery packs available and that charging is simple to handle.

* Price. Many elderly people find themselves living on a tight budget. Make certain the chair chosen fits the budget, or better yet, is covered by an insurance plan if doctor’s orders have been given.

Getting older doesn’t have to mean giving up on living. Although some older people enjoy full mobility and good health, this isn’t the case for everyone. But with some smart purchases to help overcome the little bumps in the road aging presents, most people can enjoy life to the fullest even in their 80s, 90s and beyond. A good power wheelchair can give those who have limited or no mobility a new lease on life. Making the right purchase, however, is vital for the proposition.

If you haven’t taken the leap into the hybrid automobile market you aren’t alone but the owners of hybrid cars are jumping into the green market and leading the way for those of us still driving the regular gas-only engine cars.

Besides getting the tax breaks and other perks for buying hybrids these drivers still are seeking to improve fuel economy. A lot of hybrid owners have stated that even though their hybrids give them better mileage than their previous gas vehicles they are not really satisfied with the fuel economy because they thought the difference would be even more.

These pioneers of the hybrid market seem to have high expectations of their vehicles even though some are getting over 60 mpg on their cars. For many the problem is that they are not driving their hybrid like a trained tester would and therefore are not seeing the fuel economy. Some of these drivers have been consulting with driving experts who have been coaching them on how to drive for maximum efficiency and fuel economy. After being trained the drivers are saying that they are getting better mileage than before. What is good to know about this is that the same driving tips for getting better mileage will work for drivers of regular cars too.

Many hybrid cars make use of a method that is being termed as pulse and glide. The way it works is that you end up in the zone where the use of gas and electricity is somewhat balanced. Toyota hybrids seem to reach this point at somewhere between thirty and forty mph. Once you hit that zone you have to hit the gas quick which results in a clean screen with black arrows on the dashboard telling you that you have stabilized energy use, incredibly this tactic can as much as triple your fuel economy!

The next tip is almost as old as driving itself and many drivers just refuse to heed it. Driving slower and avoiding fast stops and starts is one of the easiest and surest ways to conserve gas but most drivers can’t stand to simply drive the speed limit. It takes some planning but if you are committed to changing your lifestyle and giving yourself a little more time to get to your destinations it will be worthwhile. Try to glide as much as possible, if the front end of your car dips every time you put on the brakes you are wasting a lot of energy; instead you should be coasting up to the light or stop sign.

You may get to the next stoplight faster by rushing through that yellow light but it isn’t helping your gas mileage.

A water heater in the home is what heats the water you take a shower with, what you get hot water from to do your laundry and to do your dishes. If you find that, your water heater is on the frits, not making your water as hot as you like, or if your water heater is not going to meet the needs of your family you should look at the tankless water heater that is available. Some of the best new technology available has brought this new system to the world, so that you can heat water, as you need it without having to wait for it.

A tankless water heater is going to use less energy than other forms of heating water. If you already are heating your water with gas, electric or with coal from your current heating system, you are going to save money. A tankless water heater is going to save you from 10% to 50% of the cost of heating your water when you install and use a tankless water heater in your home.

A tankless water heater is going to heat the water instantly when you use it. The heater is going to run when the water turns on. The tankless water heater is not heating water when you are not using it. If you are doing loads of laundry and you are taking a shower, the tankless water heater can keep up with all the water usage. You can even adjust the tankless water heater to the temperature that you like the water to be at, which is going to save you even more money in the long run.

The tankless water heater is one that will take the place of that big tank in your basement or in the closet of your home. Another advantage, besides saving space, and saving on your hot water costs, is that you will not have trouble with the tankless water heater that some people have when their hot water tanks exploded and soak the home. If you have ever heard stories about a water tank exploded because of age or such, and water runs through the home, this tankless water heater is going to take some of that risk out of your home.

A great advantage to the tankless water heater is that if you are building an addition to your home, and you want to include a new bathroom you can include the tankless water heater inside the wall cavities, saving space, and saving on your water heating bill at the same time.

Whether OPEC likes it or not, hybrid owners are changing the landscape for car sales and automobile ownership. The process has been slow. Many people were not and are still not ready to pay the extra money to buy a hybrid. Some fear that technology will bypass the hybrid in the next couple of years, making their purchase a bad investment. Many people do not want to be the first one to buy a strange, new technology, just like when the regular car came into existence. Others have found that tax incentives and saving money on gas are the best reasons to go hybrid. For most hybrid buyers, however, the environmental reasons to buy one have outweighed any other reasons or any negative fallout that is present now or foreseeable in the future.

1. Emissions: With all the news about high gas prices and people across the country feeling the effects in their pockets, having a hybrid sounds like a great idea. Hybrids are super-efficient with their use of gas because they rely on electricity for some of their power. This has made it possible for hybrids to get great mileage. The environmental impact is phenomenal. Hybrids use less gas sending fewer emissions into the air. Chemicals from dioxide, to nitrogen oxide all get into the air with gas cars. Although hybrids still emit some fumes and toxic elements, they are performing so well that the EPA has made special ratings for them because they are putting about 90% fewer emissions into the air.

2. Getting Gas: Acquiring gas has become a major concern for the entire world. Having to build more refineries to produce gas will only put more chemicals into the air. Finding places to get oil are also becoming harder to find. Many have objected to the government’s desire to drill in the protected parks of Alaska. Depending less on oil helps contributes to less destruction of our natural resources.

3. Effects on the Human Environment: When emissions get churned into the air, the environment is not the only place that suffers. The human body does not take well to the excessive amounts of carbon dioxide, lead and other chemicals that gas-guzzling cars use. Sitting in traffic, one experiences the odors alone that carry the cancer causing agents. All of the chemicals produced by emissions have been linked to cancer, birth defects and a number of other preventable conditions.

4. Ride the Environmental Wave: Many people say that buying a hybrid is a great idea, but not everyone buys one. It is hard to blame people, since the cost is thousands of dollars more than for a regular car, but for those who are taking the first steps, they are contributing to environmental awareness. Choosing a hybrid helps the market get the price down, which allows for more people to buy them. Buying a hybrid is one of the best ways to get the environmental domino effect moving.

5. Encourage the Government: Buying a hybrid car is beginning to get some encouragement from the government. Known for being dependant on foreign oil for years, the Federal government is beginning to see the benefits of hybrid cars being on the market and is offering tax credits through the end of 2006. Each person that buys a hybrid can be eligible for up to a $2,000 credit on their tax return. When more and more hybrids are purchased, it is likely that the government will consider the environment in its decisions.

Numerous other reasons to buy hybrids are being offered by the makers of hybrids, those who have already purchased one, and by dealerships. To many, any issues that makers are having with the production of hybrids seem like less of a problem than finding real ways to stay green. Emissions and efficiency have come to the forefront of people’s minds more and more as gas prices rise. People are starting to be more concerned about the effects of high emissions on their health, and their future grandchildren. Choosing a hybrid makes a huge statement to the government and to other consumers. More and more people are beginning to “choose green” when they buy a vehicle, which encourages more people that doing so is the right way to go.

It is no secret anymore that there is need for alternatives for traditional fossil energy sources. The costs for consumers are rising and with the increasing demand for energy the power plants can hardly keep up. A good alternative is the use of solar energy. Through the years and with extensive research it has become one of the most used and reliable alternative energy sources.

Solar energy is often thought of as converting solar energy into electricity. But it is not only used to convert into electricity, it is also used for heating. It can be used to heat your home and if you own one, your swimming pool.

To convert sun rays into heat you will need to invest in solar panels. The water that runs through these panels are heated and transported to your home heating systems. Now, older model solar panels used to be very inefficient. This has now changed for the better.

With the advancement of technology, the panels have now been efficient to collect and convert the sun’s energy into heat. Today, modern heating systems can have enough energy to heat the water in your home or even the swimming pool.

There are many types of systems available in the market today. These different types of heating control systems commonly work on temperature differential strategies. They work by utilizing two sensors with one located near the panels to heat water and the other is located on or near the water return valve to the panel. To put it in simple terms, one of the sensors detects the temperature of the water that is going to leave the panel and the other sensor will measure the water temperature that is coming in the panel.

This process works by setting a predetermined temperature set by the owner that the sensors will wait for. When the water meets the temperature that you set, the sensors will enable the computer to turn the pump on and transfer the water to the location you need it to be. The other sensor located in the return valve detects the temperature of the running water when it is in a specific range of the panel system it automatically shuts off the pump.

One of the most important factors in any heating system is temperature control is. You need to be sure to buy a system that has been recommended by your friends who already use solar heating system. Of course you can use the internet as a source of information to get recommendations.

Although the benefits are clear there are people who do not wish to install the solar panels because they are unattractive and find that they can literally ruin your landscape. For this problem an answer has been found. You can heat your home using solar energy without solar panels. You can do this by using the concept known as gain. This is used to heat homes without the use of solar panels. It can be very efficient and can save you a lot of money by not buying expensive solar panels. This system works just like a car parked in the heat of the sun with the windows rolled up. When you enter the car, you will experience a blast of heat coming out of the car. The same concept is used in this heating system.

In conclusion, solar heating systems are one of the best and efficient ways to heat your home and the water in your home or pool. It can effectively reduce your utility bill by using these systems and can also reduce pollution caused by fossil fuels. With these modern heating systems you can be sure you can cut utility costs and at the same time reduce pollution.
